Conversion of levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone over Zr-containing metal-organic frameworks: Evidencing the role of Lewis and Brønsted acid sites

چکیده

Zr-containing UiO-66 and MOF-808 are evaluated for converting levulinic acid (LA) into γ-valerolactone (GVL) through various routes: (i) Step-wise esterification of LA to n-butyl levulinate (nBuL) Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reduction GVL; (ii) One-pot two-steps with n-butanol followed by MPV sec-butanol; (iii) direct conversion GVL a tandem reaction. Selection this multistep complex reaction evidences the participation different sites (Lewis or Brønsted) material in each individual step: Brønsted-induced catalyze efficiently, while Lewis preferred step. Sulfation is used enhance Brønsted acidity MOF-808, which improves performance esterification. However, sulfate groups introduced detrimental step, since they reduce intra-pore space available form required bulky transition state. These results evidence need find best equilibrium between optimize outcome

Conversion of Levulinic Acid to γ-Valerolactone over Few-Layer Graphene-Supported Ruthenium Catalysts

Few-layer graphene (FLG) supported ruthenium nanoparticle catalysts were synthesized and used for the hydrogenation of levulinic acid (LA), one of the “top 10” biomass platform molecules derived from carbohydrates. FLG-supported ruthenium catalyst showed 99.7% conversion and 100% selectivity toward γ-valerolactone (GVL) at room temperature in a batch reactor under high-pressure hydrogen. This c...

Electricity storage in biofuels: selective electrocatalytic reduction of levulinic acid to valeric acid or γ-valerolactone.

Herein, we report an effective approach to electricity storage in biofuels by selective electrocatalytic reduction of levulinic acid (LA) to high-energy-density valeric acid (VA) or γ-valerolactone (gVL) on a non-precious Pb electrode in a single-polymer electrolyte membrane electrocatalytic (flow) cell reactor with a very high yield of VA (>90 %), a high Faradaic efficiency (>86 %), promising ...

Catalytic conversion of cellulose to levulinic acid by metal chlorides.

The catalytic performance of various metal chlorides in the conversion of cellulose to levulinic acid in liquid water at high temperatures was investigated. The effects of reaction parameters on the yield of levulinic acid were also explored. The results showed that alkali and alkaline earth metal chlorides were not effective in conversion of cellulose, while transition metal chlorides, especia...

the role of russia in transmission of energy from central asia and caucuses to european union
